Pre-Inspection Guidelines

Normal wear on your vehicle is expected as time goes on. However, "excess wear," like upholstery scratches, dents or dings, could lead to additional charges on your Lease-End Liability Invoice. Here’s a quick guide to help you understand the difference between standard wear and excessive wear.

 

Exterior

Exterior Good

Good To Go!

  • Fewer than 4 dings per panel less than 2 inches
  • 1 dent equal to or less than 4 inches or 1 scratch less than 6 inches per panel
  • Cracked glass less than ½ inch diameter
Exterior Damaged

Needs Repair

  • 4 or more dings per panel or multiple dings equal to or greater than 2 inches per panel 
  • 1 dent greater than 4 inches or 1 scratch equal to or greater than 6 inches per panel 
  • Cracked glass equal to or greater than ½ inch in diameter or spider cracks

Interior

Interior Good

Good To Go!

  • Removable stains and minor carpet wear 
  • Upholstery holes equal to or less than 1/8 inch
  • Tears equal to or less than 1/2 inch
Interior Damaged

Needs Repair

  • Permanent Stains 
  • Upholstery holes greater than 1/8 inch
  • Tears greater than 1/2 inch

Tire & Wheel

Tires Good

Good To Go!

  • Original manufacturer wheels
  • Undamaged tires with a minimum 4/32-inch tread
  • Wheel scratches or gouges equal to or less than 3 inches
  • Manufacturer’s recommended tire size and speed rating, regardless of tire brand
Tires Damaged

Needs Repair

  • Mismatched tires
  • Tire tread less than 4/32 inch
  • Wheels with scratches or gouges greater than 3 inches
  • Tires not of the same size and specifications as the original equipment (equal speed rating and, if applicable, self-seal or run-flat)

Miscellaneous (e.g., missing equipment)

Misc Good

Good To Go!

  • No missing equipment or broken parts
  • No instrument panel warning lights or messages illuminated
Misc Damaged

Needs Repair

  • Cracked headlights
  • Mechanical defects
  • Missing equipment, including keys and key fobs
  • Instrument panel warning lights or messages illuminated

Mileage
